Planning production

There is only me in my production team so I am going to write out a production plan that I will follow, I have already decided what I am going to do for my magazine front cover and for my double paged spread.
I will create a very feminine front cover and inside my magazine I will create an agony aunt page and I will report on an article about fashion or a teenage problem article. I will be using research from magazines and the Internet.

I will be taking my own images that will be featured in my magazine. I will advertise in the college for girls that would like to be featured in my media project, some of the images will be taken in the studio where they will look professional the other images will be done on location, for example for the images of fashion because it is winter now I would like to feature a winter collection so I would like to have a location shoot outside to reflect the fashion.

I will create a location report to ensure health and safety for all involved, a shooting schedule for what model will be wearing what clothes and make up etc. for my studio shoot I will also create a schedule for my studio shoot as well. I will only be using one model for my studio shoot because I only want one model featured on the front cover but I will be giving the whole magazine a Christmas theme because the magazine will be create over Christmas and new year.

To help with my planning stages I will create a plan of what my front page and double page spread will look like. For example this is a rouge version of what my front cover plan will look like.

For my media I am producing a teenage Magazine aimed at teenage girls. I have chosen the name Harmony for my magazine because it means peace and love, also it is a word that is used in music that means the combination of chords however I what that my magazine to have the same meaning but a little different my meaning is that appeals directly to my magazine is the combination of fashion and gossip and also the name Harmony can be used as a girls name.

I have researched six difference magazines that I have looked at are the magazines are Elle magazine, OK magazine, shout magazine, gossip magazine, girl talk magazine and minx’s magazine.
Where I have found that mostly teenage magazines have information about the latest fashions and the latest celebrity gossip mostly about the popular celebrities that are in the media today like Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Jennifer Lopez.

Looking at the layouts of Teenage magazines I have found that mostly there is a main image on the front cover these are known as “The Cover” usually there is a female famous model on the front cover like Tara Banks or Heidi klum or a famous female celebrity like Paris Hilton or Jennifer Lopez. Also on the cover will be other things featured in the magazines usually fashion tips, other celebrity stories and stories about men.

My targeted audience are women aged from 13-19 years; I am targeting ordinary teenagers from both middle class and higher-class societies because I want my magazine to appeal to all teenage girls and not just a selected few.

They expect to see a bright eye catching cover with the stories inside explained on the font cover. So I am going to make my magazine very eye catching to ensure that my targeted audience buy my magazine.

If there is a story about that certain celebrity at the time the magazine will make an extra effort for them to be on the front cover and get an exclusive interview with the star. This is called signs that attract your targeted audience another sign that is recognisable on a magazine are the title behind the model this is a common factor that is used in magazines.

Here is an example of a women style magazine cover called Elle. As you can see clearly the model on the front stands out against the white background because she is in a striking pink dress. This is a way that the magazines editors make people buy the magazine because they make the magazine stand out against the rest; also there is a hidden message within the magazine pacifically aimed at women because of the bright pink colour of the dress.

This has influenced me because I want my own magazine to look girly and very famine. So for my own magazine I am going to use the same similar layout that Elle has used. I am going to have a white background, and use a black and pink font for my writing. For my own magazine I will take my own images to have in my magazine and I will create stories about fashion, celebrity gossip and girly issues on man troubles.
